The proposed McBride Place Energy project would be the largest solar farm in western North Carolina.

N.C. regulators have approved a Bristol, Va., company’s application for an 80-megawatt solar project near Concord, NC to be built at a cost of $180 million to $200 million.
The proposed solar farm would start operating by the end of 2015, according to McBride Energy Services’ application for a certificate of public necessity and convenience.
